As discussed in the previous lesson, our natural lashes have a unique growth cycle and it just may be time for your Telogen lash to fall out.
Pay attention to the lashes that are shedding. Is there a natural lash attached to the end of the extension or is it just an extension and no natural lash attached?
This is very important to take note of:
If the extension is attached to a natural lash when shedding occurs, then this is proper, and the extension has shed with the natural growth cycle of the natural lash. Remember, we lose 2-5 lashes per day naturally.
If the extension is not attached to a natural lash when the extension falls off, we have a retention issue.
Retention issues can be caused by using oil based products around the eye or a plethora of other factors*. Yes some eyeliners have oil in them and will break down the adhesive on the lash extension.
*(other factors: excessive sweat, exposed to steam, oily eyelids, picking or rubbing extensions, sleeping on face, not washing lashes, hormones, poor lash studio
conditions)
Below are demonstrations of extensions that have fallen out with natural lash growth and premature fall out.
* One Natural Lash is attached to extension when extensions falls out with the natural growth cycle:
When no natural lash is attached to the extension, this is considered premature fall out, and could be caused by a retention issue:
